It looks as though this was a labor of love. Songwriter Walker Lukens teamed up with venue Holy Mountain to put a set of shows together that have your friendly neighborhood Austin Music Minute maven all a-flutter. It’s two nights of local band goodness that Lukens has dubbed Two Nights I Was Kissed By Patti Smith – so named in keeping with the title of one Lukens’s songs on his latest album, Devoted (“The Night I Was Kissed By Patti Smith,” featured on today’s AMM).
Don’t let the cold deter you from these smoking-hot show nights, tonight and tomorrow night at Holy Mountain, 617 E. 7th St. Bundle up and check these bands out:
Tonight – It’s a night for groovin’ and shakin’ yo booty with the fabulous Emily Bell, southern soul swingers Roxy Roca and mighty ensemble Mighty Mountain.
Tomorrow – Shoegazers’ bliss in an evening of head-bobbing introspection with Royal Forrest, Roger Sellers and She, Sir.
Walker and his band The Side Arms perform both nights. Doors open at 9 p.m. both nights. Don your best winter threads and go. It’s well worth it.
