Call it chillwave, call it sleepy surf, describe it as you will. But it’s definitely all about their love affair with everything about classic pop.
Pueblo, CO husband and wife duo in/PLANES pens a rather simple, straightforward sonic love letter to the classic styles of the pop realm, from roots music to R&B, doo-wop and soul. It’s a genuine admiration for those tracks of years gone by that make you weak in the knees when you hear them on the radio. The aptly named Radio / Wave LP features guitarist/vocalist Inaiah Lujan and bassist/vocalist Desirae Garcia offering their own contemporary take on ’50s and ’60s pop vibes.
in/PLANES’s End of Summer Tour includes a stop in Austin tonight at the Cactus Cafe, 2247 Guadalupe in the Texas Union. Doors at 8 p.m., show at 8:30 p.m. Treat yourself. Recommended.
