Rock-A-Thon

Lest you forget, the Austin Music Minute is here to remind you that girls ROCK. All of the girls, all of the time. And in the Live Music Capital of the World, there’s an endless amount of musical talent to prove it. There are also organizations like Girls Rock Camp Austin to nurture that talent at an early age, and build up girls’ self-esteem, all through the power of music education and performance.

Girls Rock Camp Austin is having its first ever Rock-A-Thon benefit show to raise awareness and support of this mission, tonight from 7-10 p.m. at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 900 Red River. There’ll be performances by local pop trio Charlie Belle, who will release their debut EP Get To Know in January, and Austin punk rock/rock ‘n’ roll annihilators The Applicators. Admission at the door includes food and drink, and proceeds benefit the rock camp, which also includes a scholarship fund for half of the attendees.

Word is there will also be a chance to win Fun Fun Fun Fest passes. Go forth and rawk! Very recommended.
