Rock ‘N’ Roots at the Hotel

It’s a great night for rock ‘n’ roll. Oh, wait – that would be every night. My bad. But, as your Austin Music Minute maven, my job involves rounding up some choice recommendations that you might like, and there’s one that caught my ear for this evening.

You could very well say this is one of my triple-bill deals, because I’m diggin’ each of these groups: Folk/roots songwriter Wil Cope, whose rustic, low-key EP Drunk Are the Stars remains one of my favorites in the folk and Americana realm (featuring backing vocals by another great local artist, Christy Hays); local songwriter Mason Kinard‘s Americana-psych project (with punk and metal passion at its very core) Archive War; and a roots-rock quartet that Hank Williams would find himself smitten with, Gilded Splinters. All three are performing tonight at Hotel Vegas, 1500 E. 6th St. Cope and Archive War are partnering up as residency artists there. Doors open at 9 p.m. Get there early so you can catch all of them. Recommended.
