Sgt. Remo tonight at Flamingo Cantina, with StoneTribe and JGuam and The San Antones.

Originally from Juarez, MX, San Antonio-based artist Sgt. Remo (born Sergio Ortiz) has been a powerful voice in reggae since the early 2000’s, turning up reggae in a seemingly unlikely place like Texas and flourishing as both artist and ambassador of reggae culture, and touring extensively throughout the U.S. and Mexico.

His first international underground hit “Rastafari Way” from Give Thanks For Life opened the door to a multitude of collaborations with established reggae artists and burgeoning musicians in the local scene. Remo is also the founder of King Remo Sound System, San Antonio’s first reggae label and custom sound system experience bringing awareness to sound system culture and its many elements.

Sgt. Remo’s band The Vibratones, featuring some of San Antonio’s best reggae musicians, joins him for a performance tonight at Flamingo Cantina on 6th St. The line-up includes San Antonio’s progressive reggae outfit StoneTribe, and purveyors of classic and modern instrumental reggae JGuam & The San Antones. Doors at 9 p.m.

This is just ahead of Sgt. Remo’s Remo Fest 2025, a family-friendly reggae fest at Hill Country Caribbean Vybez in Blanco, TX on Saturday, Sept. 20, featuring Kingston legend Ranking Joe headlining the event. Find ticket information here.
