At the very start, Shayna Sands‘ mournful guitar draws you into her EP Motions of the Day. As harmonica and strings drift into the opening single “3417”, you’re met with a ghostly figure whose songs forever remain amongst crumbled ruins. So many secrets kept within those former walls. Sands, an Austin-based songwriter and Corpus Christi native, combines elements of folk, country, soul, and a bit of blues with something haunted in her stories.
Sands plays tonight at The 13th Floor on Red River, sharing the bill with Christian Bland (The Black Angels) doing a solo set. Doors at 8 p.m.
