Temporary Time, Orchestrated

Something more was within Temporary Time. Bayonne brought it out with strings.

AMM March 21 2024

Bayonne with Live Ensemble (Orchestrated), Friday night at The 04 Center.

Roger Sellers (songwriter/musician Bayonne) began a collaborative project with composer Nathaniel Earl last summer to reimagine a grouping of Bayonne’s work that Sellers considered quite personal – “Must Be True,” “Solo,” “Come Down,” “Tabitha” and “Perseid,” the first four originally recorded for 2023’s Temporary Time. After deconstructing them, they gave each piece extra space to flow with symphonic arrangement, initiating different synergies and emotions, moving through stages of grief into hope.

These are the intricacies behind Temporary Time (Orchestrated), not so much a companion piece to Bayonne’s recent album of the same name but another level, or passage, along the journey. Both emerged from the same place of hope.

Coming up is a must-see performance presented by KUTX: Bayonne with Live Ensemble (Orchestrated), bringing these reimagined works to life tomorrow night, Friday March 22, at The 04 Center on S. Lamar. Doors at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m.
