This talent definitely runs in the family. Grammy-nominated artist Emily King happens to be the daughter of singers Marion Cowings and Kim Kalesti. King’s NYC childhood was one filled with jazz and classical music, inspiration paving the way to a multitude of influences, from R&B to hip hop. By age 16, she was writing her own songs, some of which became part of the Greenwich Village saga on her official debut, East Side Story (2007).
Amongst King’s outstanding recordings is longtime fan favorite, The Seven (2011). King continues a celebration of the EP’s ten-year anniversary with the Ever After Tour, which includes a stop in Austin tomorrow night, Thursday Feb. 17, at 3Ten at ACL Live. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show begins at 8:30 p.m.
