This is one hell of a legacy…
It was 1994 when the late Dallas Good first got The Sadies started in Toronto. And it’s no exaggeration to say ever since then, it’s been consistently phenomenal music on every LP. The Sadies’ 30-plus years of effortlessly playing across genres gets better with every listen.
“The Sadies are the ultimate bands’ band,” says L.C. Franke. “Full of soul that straddles the line between retro country and psych-tinged folk, but without feeling ironic or gimmicky. This ain’t your cosplay genericana you’re used to being assaulted with. It’s a heartfelt slow burn, with great songs and killer players.”
Facts. The AMM recommends The Sadies’ latest Colder Streams as a great introduction (Dallas Good himself previously wrote of their 2022 release, “Colder Streams is, by far, the best record that has ever been made by anyone. Ever.”), though today’s AMM-featured track “Flash” is from 2001’s Tremendous Efforts.
As you happily trip down that badass rabbit hole, don’t miss The Sadies tonight at 3Ten ACL Live, with the wonderful L.C. Franke playing a stripped-down opening set. Doors at 7 p.m.
