The song on today’s Austin Music Minute is a signature track, an iconic part of the time from which it came. All you need to hear is that familiar bass line in the beginning, and instantaneously, a specific image comes to mind – the one and only Nancy Sinatra, looking go-go girl-fabulous in groovy black boots.
That groovy vibe is the central theme for a special benefit show tomorrow night at The Stateside at the Paramount. A Nancy Sinatra Tribute features an impressive list of local musical artists paying homage to the gal with the boots made for walking. The bill includes performances of Nancy Sinatra tunes by Jazz Mills, Tameca Jones, Brennen Leigh, Betty Soo and Shelley King, with musical direction by Adrian Quesada, and Elizabeth McQueen as emcee. Proceeds from the show benefit the SIMS Foundation, which provides access and financial support for mental health and addiction recovery services to Austin musicians and their families.
All of this and more, for such a great cause! The show starts at 8 p.m. Very recommended.
