Think Rock

Maybe the laments over rock’s alleged deterioration are more fleeting than common. Perhaps it’s prolonged exposure to occasional embittered Facebook soapbox rants. But the Austin Music Minute maven is here to tell you: Rock ‘n’ roll ain’t dead. And here’s ThinkNoThink to push you back into the loop – in case you’re out of it.

The local power trio wields fiery, twisted, colossal-amped jams that take Sonic Youth, The Seeds, and maybe The Jesus and Mary Chain along for the ride, with The Electric Prunes crammed in the passenger seat. There’s no better way to get the party started than with ribcage-rattling rock, all droney, fuzzed up and searing the eardrums. Hello, ThinkNoThink. Heard you were bringing some rock ‘n’ roll salvation. Can I get a witness?

Check out ThinkNoThink at their show tonight at Holy Mountain, 617 E. 7th St. Sharing the bill are garage psych-pop band Chicon and indie rock/punk quartet Phantom Lakes. Bring it on. Get there after 9 p.m. Recommended.
