It’s a definite Austin Music Minute favorite, and one that your humble hostess has featured on my evening show: The First Trip EP by local psych-metal trio The Well is an essential must-have for those who prefer the heavier sides of psych. Guitarist Ian Graham places some divine shreds on the doom altar, with bassist Lisa Alley turning out grooves that rock like no other, and both Graham and Alley providing dual vocals that leave you haunted. Drummer Jason Sullivan rounds out the perfectly massive sound. This is a band that dominates.
The Austin Chronicle is featuring The Well in their monthly music series, Paper Cuts. The band plays tonight at The Palm Door, 401-A Sabine St. Keep in mind that if you visit the Paper Cuts link, it does say that the show is sold out. However, starting at 7:30 p.m., guests who did not RSVP earlier may be let into the venue, depending upon available capacity, so you still might have a chance to get in. My recommendation is: Go for it. The Well is one to keep an eye on.
