Segall’s Possession brings horns, strings, and more fantastic collaborative exchange with Matt Yoka.
“Prolific” is a bit of an understatement. On the heels of last year’s releases Three Bells and the brilliantly improvised instrumental Love Rudiments, Ty Segall emerges with more absolute bangers on his latest trip along the “big sky trail,” Possession. Filmmaker/video artist Matt Yoka joins Segall again for storytelling adventure with horns and strings arranged by Mikal Cronin (who also wrote the title track for the album).
Leading up to the LP’s May 30 release, Segall’s making the rounds on a solo acoustic tour that brings him back to Austin tomorrow night for a show at The Parish. Doors at 7:30 p.m., with Mikal Cronin opening. The solo tour’s followed by a full-band tour kicking off in July with PRIMUS.
