The knowledge, the wisdom attained by this introspective examination, was a profound life-changer for Cat Power.
The songwriter’s tenth album, Wanderer, is a revealing glimpse into the mind of an artist who very nearly quit making music. But, instead of leaving that one true love behind, she channeled the rawness of her emotions and experiences into a minimally arranged tapestry expressing a newfound sense of self-worth. There’s still a vulnerable side present, true, but also that deeper wisdom, and a broader sense of who Cat Power really is.
Cat Power returns to Austin for a show presented by KUTX tomorrow night at Emo’s, 2015 E. Riverside Dr., with ARSUN opening. Doors at 8 p.m., and it’s an all-ages show.
