The last album that Austin band The Sour Notes released was the psych/dream pop ear-feast Do What May in 2014. Fans have been wondering when any new music would be coming next after a somewhat long pause for the typically prolific songwriter/vocalist and co-founder Jared Boulanger. Just consider the collection of Sour Notes releases that also includes various EP’s, 7-inch recordings and yes, even an exclusive two-track cassette.
However, closer to the end of this year, the wait will be over. Darkest Sour, set for release this November, was mixed and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineers Steve Christensen and Jo LaPorta. “Loose Leaf and Bleak” is the new track previewed on today’s Austin Music Minute. You’ll get to hear it and many more when The Sour Notes perform tonight at Stubb’s indoor venue, 801 Red River, for the PJ Harvey afterparty show, along with phenom pop-rockers Go Fever. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. A must-see. Recommended.
