Africa Night with Zoumountchi, tonight at Sahara Lounge, with Mega’Tune and Afro Jazz.
Ibrahim Aminou of Austin-based Afrobeat ensemble Zoumountchi returned to Austin this summer after a 7-month stay in Niger, and continues Zoumountchi’s Africa Night weekend residency at Sahara Lounge with new music in the fold. The band completed a few studio recordings last year for a future release date, including the exhilarating “Austin City” featured on today’s AMM.
Don’t miss Zoumountchi at 11 p.m. tonight, on a bill with Mega’Tune at 9:30 p.m., and improvisational ensemble Afro Jazz (featuring Aminou on Kora, violinist Roberto Paulo Riggio and drummer Noah Colbeck) starting the evening at 7:30 p.m.
