Beethoven’s “Fidelio” at The Long Center – Austin Opera

Austin Opera’s season concludes in spring 2022 at the Long Center with Fidelio: A Celebratory Gala Production. Beethoven wrote Fidelio, his only opera, in response to the volatile political situation in Europe during his time, and his themes of social justice, the meaning of freedom, and the power of love and fidelity are still remarkably relevant.


Beerthoven Concert Series – Songs My Mother Taught Me

Join us this Mother’s Day weekend as we present a program written by, for, and about moms! Featuring Two Songs, Op. 91 by Johannes Brahms, Goodnight Moon by Eric Whitacre, Romances, Op. 22 by Clara Schumann, Songs my Mother Taught Me by Antonín Dvořák, an original song cycle Passage Through Night by Austin-based composer Stephanie K. Andrews, and much more. Beerthoven Founder and Executive Director Daniel Swayze will be at the piano accompanying vocalist Samantha Balboa and violist Ruben Balboa.

A sorcerer transforms an innocent girl into a White Swan, and when a prince falls in love with her, he creates her evil twin, the Black Swan, to entice him away. A story of devotion, infatuation, heartbreak, and forgiveness, SWAN LAKE features Marius Petipa’s original choreography and breathtaking corps de ballet sequences, set to Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s sweeping score. It’s the ballet classic you must experience.


Bates Recital Hall – SEASON FINALE with Jorge Caballero & Miró Quartet

We close out our season with some of our dearest friends, the brilliant Jorge Caballero from Peru and Austin’s own internationally acclaimed string ensemble, the Miró Quartet! 

This concert has it all – solos, quintets, a giant guitar orchestra, the premiere of a dazzling new work by Clarice Assad, and the 10 year anniversary performance of one of our most ambitious projects, Austin Pictures, by Joe Williams. Join us for this celebration of joy and beauty!


Lark and Owl Celebrating Independent Bookstore Day with Concert and Book Signing

Friday, April 29th @ 7 p.m.

“We are so excited to bring Sara Hickman’s music to Georgetown,” Jane Estes, general manager & co-founder of Lark & Owl Booksellers, told Hello Georgetown. “She is a singer-songwriter who has been entertaining audiences for years. She served as an Official Texas State Musician from 2010-2011. I’ve seen her perform many times over the years and she is so engaging and delightful! She writes music for audience of all ages, but this concert will be adult-focused. The concert will be held inside our bookstore so it will be an intimate and special evening. People are certainly in for a treat.”
