Josh Karpeh grew up in Cleveland, playing flute and saxophone. But a few years ago, he stumbled across a cutting-edge, electronic/R&B hybrid scene blossoming on Soundcloud and started making his own productions. As Cautious Clay, he crafts bold, atmospheric songs that have pop appeal but a producer’s ear for detail, which can be heard on this year’s Deadpan Love.
Cautious Clay returns to Austin for ACL Fest on Sunday, October 10, playing the Miller Lite Stage at 3:30 p.m. This week on My KUTX, we’re revisiting his 2019 guest DJ set, which features classic funk, inspiring productions from friends, and even an Eagles track. Hear Cautious Clay’s My KUTX on Saturday, October 9 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime in the player above.
