Geto Gala is the KUTX Artist of the Month for November 2024, powered by PNC Bank.
In 2021, two of the leading voices in Austin’s hip-hop scene joined forces. Deezie Brown and Jake Lloyd were each fans of each other, and their collaboration as Geto Gala turned into a well-received EP. Luckily for us, though, it wasn’t just a one-off. Major League, the duo’s debut album, dropped this month, full of a genre-bending mix of rap, funk, rock, and electro, all spiced with the pair’s love of sports.
This week on My KUTX, Deezie and Jake take the mics as our guest DJs. Their mix is a trip down memory lane, from cruising around with parents listening to classic rap and R&B to the childhood sounds that have influenced Geto Gala’s rise. Hear My KUTX on Saturday, November 30 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime right here. And catch Geto Gala live at the Paramount Theatre on December 6 for The Last Walt, alongside Walker Lukens, Adrian Quesada, and more.
