This year, Austin indie rock institution Spoon released its tenth album, Lucifer On The Sofa. The record finds the band returning to its rock roots, partially as a response to the pandemic’s social isolation. Recorded at Austin’s Public Hi-Fi studios–run by Spoon drummer Jim Eno–there’s a thrilling energy to Lucifer: one band, one room, all pulling in the same direction.
Spoon brings this energy to ACL Fest, playing both Sundays, Oct 9 and Oct 16. This week on My KUTX, we rebroadcast a 2020 guest DJ set from Spoon frontman Britt Daniel. He picks an hour of songs sung by some of his all-time favorite vocalists, from Amy Winehouse and John Lennon to Public Enemy and Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. Hear My KUTX on Saturday, October 8 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime at the top of the page.
