Austin’s reputation as a live music capital is thanks to a diversity of talent and sounds—everything from conjunto to psychedelic rock and beyond. Alejandro Escovedo is taking a look back at these “united sounds of Austin” with a concert featuring Lucinda Williams, Roky Erickson, Joe Ely, and more—and this week on the Austin Music Experience, we’ll take a listen to exclusive live recordings from these artists. Escovedo himself first jumped into the scene as a librarian at the University of Texas, and he talks about Rank And File, medieval poetry, and meeting Sterling Morrison of the Velvet Underground. Also, St. Vincent teases another new song, a couple of Adrian Quesada collaborations, the week’s music news and more. Join us Friday at noon and again at 11pm on KUTX 98.9, or anytime in the player below.
