KUTX host and producer Jack Anderson lets you know about the best songs ever…this week.
Mitski- “Nobody”
My first pick is from Mitski Miyawaki, a Big Apple songwriter who’s made five full-lengths in just six years. Mitski’s latest record, Be The Cowboy, came out last month and it’s nothing short of heartbreaking. Case in point: “Nobody,” a song that’ll tear you down before making you bob your head.
Jungle- “Cherry”
Hopping across the pond to the UK we find London seven-piece Jungle. They’ve got a really cool, modern soul vibe that jumps between relaxing and high-energy. It’s a perfect pairing of organic and electronic, and the whole gang joins us in a couple of weeks for ACL Fest. They shared their sophomore album Forever this week and “Cherry” shows off the chiller side of Jungle.
Rubblebucket- “Annihilation Song”
Finally, something from Brooklyn funk jammers Rubblebucket. The two founding members recently ended their longtime romantic relationship but their connection is still core to the band’s well-being. A couple of weeks back, Rubblebucket showed off their creative bond with their most personal album to date, Sun Machine. The album is all over the place genre-wise, but “Annihilation Song” is a good jumping off point.
