Best Songs Ever … 8.2.19

KUTX Host Matt Reilly spills the beans on the BEST SONGS EVER! At least for this week.

Tuxedo – “The Tuxedo Way”

First up, Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One are the brains behind Tuxedo. This throwback disco song is smooth, makes it impossible to sit still, and it’s perfect for summer. They also name-check themselves, which gives it bonus points in my book. It’s called “The Tuxedo Way.”

Queue Queue – “Oprah”

Next up, “Oprah” from Queue Queue. This Austin trio asks the question that all of us have asked from time to time – what would Oprah do? This defiant post-punk song keeps you waiting for the explosion that never comes, and that’s what’s cool: it’s all anticipation and tension.

Seratones – “Power”

Finally, “Power” comes from Shreveport, Louisiana’s Seratones. Frontwoman AJ Haynes has major vocal chops, and this is one of those windows-down, cruising-on-the-highway songs.
