KUTX joined our music industry peers Sunday night at the industry awards portion of the Austin Chronicle’s 2022 Austin Music Awards. Thanks to our audience and Austin Chronicle readers, KUTX took home three awards: Best Radio Station, Best Radio Program (Rick McNulty’s “Left of the Dial”) and Best Radio Personality (Laurie Gallardo.) It was KUTX’s 5th consecutive win, and 8th win overall since our members launched the station in 2013. For Laurie, it was her 6th consecutive and overall win, and Rick’s second overall win. In addition to these wins, KUTX staff Confucius, Deidre Gott, Fresh, Soundfounder and Taylor Wallace also garnered nominations this year. We couldn’t be prouder to share cubicle and creative space with such talented folks, each making a difference in for Austin music (and the larger community) in their own way.
KUTX Host Emeritus John Aielli joined 2018-2019 inductee Jody Denberg in the Austin Music Industry Hall of Fame. Always in our hearts and, when possible, on the air, you can watch John’s acceptance speech below.
