Marfa Crush – “Nights”

Local upstarts, Marfa Crush, have been making their rounds around the Austin club circuit playing at Stubb’s, Antone’s, Waterloo Records, and a number of other venues. Here at KUTX, we are proud to premiere the music video for their first Studio single: Nights. According to band lead, Marlon Sexton, “Nights is about being young from the point of view of someone who doesn’t want to get any older.” Filmed on a Super 8mm Camera, the music video for Nights shows faded, distorted images of the band playing in the middle of sand dunes that feels like a fading memory. The whole video has a certain trippy nostalgia to it; like finding a toy from your childhood that you completely forgot about. Wandering through the lifeless desert, you can feel the angst at the unstoppable movement of time accentuated by searing guitar riffs and a marching bass line. “Nights” is subtle yet powerful and a promising indicator of more to come from this young group.

Marfa Crush play 3Ten ACL Live this Saturday, November 10th!
