Remembering Mac

Ian McLagan – Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer as keyboardist for the Small Faces and Faces … touring member of the Rolling Stones (1978, 1981)…veteran of hundreds of recording sessions with artists including Buddy Guy, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Ryan Adams, Billy Bragg, Bruce Springsteen and dozens more. Guinness lover…dog lover… mower of trails…husband…father… grandfather…friend and supporter of the Austin music community.

Ian McLagan passed away one year ago, on December 3, 2014, and today KUTX remembers Mac on the airwaves and in cyberspace.
Join Susan Castle at 11:08 Thursday morning for Ocho Loco for a set of suggested songs that Ian McLagan played on. On Jody Denberg’s show Thursday he will play Mac songs throughout the program, including, at 6 p.m., Ian McLagan and the Bump Band’s final Studio 1A session from June of last year. Below you will find a cornucopia of Mac links, beginning with a video of the man and his piano – Show Us Your Moneymaker. Also – audio of Mac’s guest deejay stint on My KUTX…an earlier Studio 1A session with the Bump Band from August 2013….also a 70th Birthday tribute Studio 1A session from last May featuring the Bumps and special guests including Miles Zuniga and Alejandro Escovedo….a recording of the Cactus Café’s Views And Brews Dueling Organs show including Mac with James Polk and Red Young…and a couple of other video goodies bound to bring a smile.

To paraphrase the man himself: “You know what we love about Mac? Every*&%@ing thing!”.
