The Teller and The Truth

“For every missing person, there is a story. Within every story, lies the truth.”

Francis Wetherbee, a lovely young woman living in Smithville, TX in the 1970’s, always seemed to be the center of small-town gossip. Then, two weeks after the robbery of her fiancé’s bank, she disappeared, leaving behind only a car at the bottom of a river…and no explanation.

KUTX host Laurie Gallardo recently interviewed writer/director/photographer Andrew Shapter, and actors Leilani Galvan and Russell Ochoa, about Shapter’s new film The Teller and The Truth, featuring an original soundtrack by composer Carl Thiel, and music by Erin Ivey (“Long Tall Fantastic Dream,” which can be heard at the end of this feature). The blurring of lines between fact and fiction is just the tip of the iceberg in the story behind this gorgeous film, which took Shapter, and his cast and crew, six years to make.
