Shovels & Rope @ KUT 10/27/12

Together, Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst form the band Shovels & Rope. The Charleston, South Carolina based duo is actually named after an album they released together, and not the other way around. Appropriately enough considering the season, the album’s name (which later became the band’s name) came from a few of the songs on the record that had murderous themes. According to their website, the band “sings harmony driven folk, rock and country songs using two old guitars, a kick drum, a snare, a few tambourines, harmonicas, and and maybe a little keyboard sometimes. They tour constantly as a two piece, making as much noise as they can.” Their noisy tour comes by Austin tomorrow, for a show at Stubb’s. While they were in town, Shovels & Rope stopped by KUT to play a live set from Studio 1a. Check it out HERE!
