The Joy Formidable 6.13.17

From all the way across the pond to deep in the heart of Texas; The Joy Formidable are back and we couldn’t be happier. Formed in North Whales in 2007 by Sidecar Kisses alumni Ritzy Bryan and Rhydian Dafydd, the group quickly relocated to London and picked up drummer Matt Thomas for their trouble. The trio have been honing their darkly joyous, noisy alt-rock ever since. Bryan delivers sweet, ethereal vocals over no-frills, 90s rock; their sound is nostalgic and wonderfully unique. The Joy Formidable has released three full length albums, a smattering of EPs and even some vinyl-only singles sung in their native Welsh. They’re working on a fourth full length release while following the summer festival circuit across the heartland. The trio came to Studio 1A to play us some of their favourites; reworked for a mellow live session. Check it out below!
