Street Peach performs at Stubb’s on Friday, July 19 as part of Hot Summer Nights
Austin’s Street Peach invites her listeners to slow down and reach for the sweeter things in life. Honeyed vocals drip between bright horns and smooth beats pulled straight from the best of 90s R&B. Peep her recent performance in Studio 1A and catch her in person at Stubb’s as part of The Breaks’ Summer Jam showcase!

How did you arrive at the name Street Peach?
My friend Bird Peterson and I were joking about nicknames one time about a decade ago, the minute he said that one we looked at each other and I said ‘that’s me.’ It stuck ever since.
Where are you originally from?
Hutto, Texas right down the road, back when it was tiny… Born at Seton though, so I claim Austin.
What brought you to Austin and when?
I moved to Austin proper the minute I graduated to go to UT.
Tell us about how you got into music.
I think my earliest memories are of me singing anywhere and everywhere I could. In my room, in the car…I grew up singing in church and the school choir. Was pretty into musical theater. I didn’t think much of it until I was pre-med my sophomore year of college and felt like I wasn’t being true to myself somehow. That was when I decided to change everything and try to figure out how to get into making music.
Any early musical inspirations that have stuck with you?
I think every decade of my life could be a different genre of music, earliest being my mom waking us up every morning to Motown singing, dancing and banging on pots and pans. She was always playing piano and singing. She taught me how to harmonize when we would be on the way to one of my older sister’s volleyball games. Aside from that, Alicia Keys, K-Ci & Jojo, Usher, Bjork, Sade, which my uncle played nonstop at the beach, I was heavily drawn to every R&B group in the 90’s and early 2000’s. But also being from the middle of nowhere, I definitely know every country song known to man.
Shout out some of your favorite Austin artists that should be on everyone’s radar.
Club Coma, Passiflora, Midnight Navy, SweetLimb, Alexi8bit, Arya, Porcelain, Farmer’s Wife
Tell us about your favorite Austin Music Experience.
Probably SXSW every year. It’s changed over the years sure, but I still stumbled upon a handful of acts this year that I didn’t know about prior to that week of music that blew my mind.
You’re playing Summer Jam during Hot Summer Nights. How do you stay cool during these hot summer nights? Or give us a tip on how to stay cool on these hot summer nights.
Barton Springs night swim! The full moon swim is always a fun Austin Experience. Or getting ice cream at Zed’s in my neighborhood.
What do you have coming up in the remaining 2024?
A music video for Overflow next week (July 15th) Two more singles dropping, next one August 4th and my full 7 song EP coming out in October with a fun show to celebrate.
