Summer time has been rolling around, the kids are out of school, and everyone’s having a little bit of fun. This includes The Joe Jacksons, a fresh band led by Mario Matteoli (formerly of The Weary Boys) and Black Joe Lewis (of the Honeybears). With a garage-rock energy, they combine this raw sound with pure musical prowess to create rock n’ roll that shakes the house and gets a call from the neighbors. The two frontmen trade off singing and shredding duties (which doesn’t seem to difficult for either Lewis or Matteoli), while the whole band holds chews up a heavy-dose of distorted fun. The amps get loud, the bass shakes the soul and the drums crash and groove. If you need some bona fide rock and roll, you’re in the right place.
These bluesy-rock vets will be releasing a 7″ single with an in-store performance at End of an Ear this Sunday, June 26 and then playing again for their residency at the Continental Club Thursday, June 30 alongside The Happen-Ins. For now, check out their visit with Jeff McCord in Studio 1A in the links below.
