Active Bird Community 10.16.18

Brooklyn based band Active Bird Community (ABC), was formed in 2005. Tom D’Agustino (guitar/lead vocals), Zach Slater (bass) and Andrew Wolfson (guitar/lead vocals) were in middle school when they first came together to create the band. They would later add Quinn McGovern (drums) to their dynamic, and began solidifying their roles and experimenting with their sound–capitalizing on elements of nostalgic indie rock straight from the nineties. Their music borrows from a pop punk narrative that lends itself to harmonic elements, crafting the perfect combination for simultaneous head-bobbing and infectious slacker vibes.

Their arrangements and lyricism throughout the band’s discography organically reflects their personal experiences of growing up in New York, and the charm and discord that comes from heartbreak, tensions, and overall growth. ABC recently released their third full-length album titled, “Amends” with Barsuk Records and are in the middle of a tour around the country. Active Bird Community came by Studio 1A and played three songs off of the latest album. You can hear all of that and more down below!
