Bartees Strange shares songs off his new album, Horror, out now on 4 A.D.
Born Bartees Leon Cox Jr. in Ipswich, England to a military father and opera-singer mother, Bartees and family eventually settled in Mustang, Oklahoma. Later, Bartees cut his teeth playing in hardcore bands in Washington, D.C. and Brooklyn while working in the Barack Obama administration and (eventually) the environmental movement. Since charting a path as a solo artist in 2019, Bartees Strange released two albums on Sup Pop Records and the third album, Horror, came out in February on 4AD. For this Studio 1A session, he’ll treat us to acoustic versions of his new album, ahead of his show at Parish on Monday, May 5.
