Black Pistol Fire 9/29/17

Last time we saw Black Pistol Fire, drummer Eric Owen had stripped down to his gym shorts and guitarist Kevin McKeown was jumping on resident’s tables at the Four Seasons during our SXSW live broadcast. That kind of high-flying energy has been a hallmark of their shows from the very beginning, quickly endearing the Canadian transplants to fun-loving Austin audiences while the unapologetic, in your face, blues-tinged rock ‘n’ roll won them music fans around the world. Now with four albums and nearly a decade of music under their belt, the dynamic duo is using their new record, Deadbeat Graffiti, as an opportunity to stretch their sonic palette. Songs like “Bully” trade the tight, rapid-fire tracks of previous work for slow building guitar jams that shoot for outer space instead of the gut. Take a listen to their recent performance from Studio 1A in the player at the bottom of the post or try to catch them in your hometown during their extensive North American tour.
