Bright Light Social Hour @ KUTX 03.10.2015

Austin band Bright Light Social Hour present a fresh take on southern psychedelic rock, evoking both where they come from and the endless possibility of places to go.

Comprised of Curtis Roush, Jack O’Brien, Joseph Mirasole, and Edward “Shreddward” Braillif, the Bright Light Social Hour came together at university, relocating to Austin, and eventually receiving a multitude of Austin Music Awards for their self-titled debut in 2010. Their sophomore album Space is Still the Place presents a selection that gives shape to a concept the band calls “Future South,” taking a page from the book of Futurism and the possibilities of space ever-present within psych rock. Residing somewhere between blues, rock, soul, and a spattering of groovy funk escapades, their breezy tunes are critical, while remaining coolly optimistic about the future.

You can catch Bright Light Social Hour’s live show today, March 10th, at Waterloo Records or at Stubb’s on March 27th, and you can stream their music right here on KUTX.
