Brownout @ KUTX 07.07.2015

Austin’s Latin funk octet Brownout were back in Studio 1A, inviting us all to get up and dance.

Since starting as a Grupo Fantasma side band, Brownout has been delivering rhythmic morsels of Latin, funk, R&B, and soul, showered with electric guitar. Comprised of Gilbert Elorreaga, Mark Gonzales, Greg Gonzalez, Josh Levy, Sweet Lou, Beto Martinez, Adrian Quesada, John Speice, and Alex Marrero, the group is steadily expanding their audience with their captivating rock experiments and thematic performances. Brownout has taken part in the All ATX: British Invasion project with a swayable take on the Beatles and their last offering, released under the name Brown Sabbath, was a mighty funky re-imagining of some rockin’ Black Sabbath tunes. The band have been hard at work on Brown Sabbath Vol.2, as well as some new original material due to be released next year.

You can catch Brownout’s live show at Music Under the Star at the Bob Bullock State History Museum on Friday, July 10th, and you can stream their music right here on KUTX.
