Austin-based Daphne Tunes consider themselves a band designed to be consumed while on a long drive, crafting mellow pop songs that capture a lived-in mood and evoke the feeling of gazing up at the sky. Their upcoming release, Volume 2, was written in the same two-year period as their prior record, Volume 1, and captures much of the same sound while exploring entirely different moods. Whereas Volume 1 was a very sad, break-up record, Volume 2 focuses on interpersonal relationships and remaining true to yourself.
Daphne Tunes stopped by Studio 1A ahead of the release of their new record Volume 2, out October 4 on Uncool Records, with a release show the day prior at Open Invite featuring Julia Lucille, Taft, and Matthew Joye. Watch and listen to the full session below.
