Like a more lucid version of Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval, and a less whimsical Harriet Wheeler of the Sundays, local singer-songwriter Erin Ivey has a rare and deeply affecting voice. Her music traverses between the medicated desolate soundscapes of Mazzy Star on her live record Dreamy Weather (recorded at the Cactus Cafe), to the voluptuously lush jazzy arrangements of Broken Gold, recorded with R&B trio the Finest Kind.
