Eyelid Kid, the pop-synth outfit started by former Austinite Paul Grant, is both a music act and a lifestyle aesthetic. Now located in Brooklyn and making indie-electro pop complete with backup dancers, Eyelid Kid stopped by Studio 1A to play songs both old and new and talk about their origins.
Growing up surrounded by music, as Grant’s father was a blues musician, Grant started performing his own music in bars from a young age. A desire to find his own sound shifted his style from pure rock-n-roll to what Eyelid Kid is today, production based synth pop that creates an environment to live and dance in. With a sound that he claims is still being developed, he stopped by with his band sans dancers to play a few tracks and remark on the differences of living in Austin vs. Brooklyn.
