10-time Austin Music Award winner Gina Chavez has charmed fans all over the world with her collection of bilingual Latin folk-pop. This time, she stretches away from her traditional style and embraces something new. Her newest EP Lightbeam encompasses a more soul and R&B focused style as it tells the story of a very personal journey: falling in love with her wife. Lightbeam follows the hardships the couple has encountered throughout their relationship; coming out to their Catholic families, dealing with a long-distance relationship while Gina was on tour, and eventually getting married just two years after marriage equality became legal in Texas.
