Texas native Hayes Carll brings a fresh country breeze with a wry smile.
Singer-songwriter Hayes Carll writes “degenerate love songs,” a musical kindling of folk and country steeped in humor, as well as a starker appreciation for life’s inherent ironies. Inspired by literature just as much as the country-folk tradition of names like Townes Van Zandt and Ray Wylie Hubbard, the eloquent Austin-based musician has been delivering unadorned melodies and truthful Americana tales since his debut release in 2002. Carll’s most recent release, KMAG YOYO, was a country record weaving in and out of stories, both critical and heartfelt, and was selected by the Americana Music Association as that year’s #1 Album.
Hayes Carll will be playing Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater on June 27th and you can stream his live set right here on KUTX.
