Hot 8 Brass Band has been keepin’ it funky across the country for the last twenty years, and now they’ve brought their sweet sounds to Austin. Formed in New Orleans, with the great tradition of Crescent City brass behind them, Hot 8 has seen tragedy and triumph; experiences that have taught them the value of their unique sound. The Grammy-nominated group fuses traditional brass style with contemporary R&B, rap and bounce; their music is a thick and joyous chorus. The boys have been touring in support of their new album, On the Spot, released at the tail end of March. Hot 8 Brass Band piled into Studio 1A, eight men, six brass instruments and two drums, to showcase some of their funkiest stuff. You can listen to their session right here on KUTX!
