Jenny Lewis @ KUTX 10.2.14

The house always wins, at least when Jenny Lewis is in.

Born in Las Vegas, 38-year-old Jenny Lewis has a lot under her belt, including just under 30 years of acting and 16 years of singing and songwriting. You may recognize her as the lead vocalist of Los Angeles-based indie rock band Rilo Kiley but following the group’s split in 2011, Lewis has been pursuing a sensational solo career.

After hooking up with The Watson Twins, Lewis released her debut album Rabbit Fur Coat in 2006. The group made appearances on David Letterman, Craig Ferguson, and Conan O’Brien while the album received critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, Spin, and NPR. Lewis released her follow-up solo album Acid Tongue in 2008, this time without The Watson Twins.

This year marks the completion of a 5-year recording journey for Jenny Lewis with the release of The Voyager, a reflection on Rilo Kiley’s break-up and the death of Lewis’s father. Lewis has taken the opportunity to work in front of and behind the camera, directing and starring in the album’s single, Just One of the Guys. Since then she has been touring in promotion of The Voyager, performing across the United Kingdom and the United States. You can catch Jenny Lewis at Austin City Limits on Sunday, October 12th or stream some of her music here right now!
