Austin-based singer-songwriter Jonny Gray navigates the line between folk, pop, and rock.
The El Paso native Air Force Veteran has been garnering both local and national attention, receiving “Folk Band of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” and “Male Vocalist of the Year” at the 2014 Austin Music Awards. His debut EP Sail It Away was comprised of a minimal flurry of acoustic takes, highlighting delightfully simple melodies, highlighting his crackling voice and fragile, yet powerful vocal delivery. His first full-length, Promises Broke, which came together after a successful Kickstarter campaign, is due out June 6th and Gray is calling it a return to basics, saying, “I want[ed] to make a classic sounding record, the ones my parents or your parents grew up listening to.”
