Surf-pop, all-girl quartet, La Luz hail from Seattle, Washington. The group was formed in 2012 by Shana Cleveland (guitarist), Marian Li Pino (drums), Abbey Blackwell (bass), and Alice Sandahl (keyboard) who’ve been making sweet surf-rock waves ever since. Each band-mate contributes vocally giving their harmonies a lush, layered effect. Songs are said to be crafted by guitarist, Shana with the help of “La Luz”. Last October the girls released their first full-length LP, It’s Alive. The album is woozy and longing, and at times up tempo and sun-kissed. Their record label, Hardly Art, appropriately uses an Ella Fitzgerald quote in reference to the sound of their last album, “Something about this music vibrates to the dusky, dreamy smell of dying moons and shadows.” We’ll leave it at that. Catch them here Monday January 27 at 9 p.m.
