Maren Morris in KUTX Studio 1A

Back in June, native Texan Maren Morris was in Austin as the super secret guest headliner at Mohawk for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest On The Road. Our Concert Club members got a special Studio 1A session with the Grammy winner performing “Too Good,” “Lemonade,” and her breakout hit “My Church” in a stripped-down arrangements that put her voice and songwriting front and center. Hosted by KUTX’s Susan Castle, the two talked about her latest album Dreamsicle (out now on Columbia Records), growing up at her mom’s beauty salon in Arlington, how Texas BBQ is far superior to Tennessee BBQ (agree!), and that one time she was rejected by American Idol.

This weekend, catch her at Austin City Limits Music Festival on Friday, October 3 with a set at the Beatbox stage from 7:30–8:30 p.m.
