Matthew Logan Vasquez recently swapped out his hurricane-flooded New York City studio for a trailer-cum-recording space in the Texas Hill Country, and we couldn’t be happier to have him back. When he began writing a new album last year, it was intended for his band Delta Spirit, however he quickly realized these new songs were more personal. The result is his new solo album Does What He Wants in which he does exactly that; whatever he wants. His strong vocals and poetic lyrics bring passion to every track, pulling a powerful thematic and emotional thread through songs that cross genre and tone. Strongly influenced by Pink Floyd, Lou Reed and Kurt Cobain, Matthew Logan Vasquez proves himself a worthy successor to their musical legacy. Vasquez stopped past Studio 1A to show us some of his favorite tracks off the new album before hitting the Continental Club for an album release show, check it out below!
