Metronomy 2.26.20

The song title “Forever is a Long Time” displays the tongue-in-cheek spin on Metronomy’s newest record Metronomy ForeverJoe Mount, having now fronted the band for quite a long time, has shed the trepidations that confine so many other artists into a single niche. He continues bridging the gap between electronic and rock music with tracks that reference earlier work yet reveal a much more mature vision. As he discusses with host Laurie Gallardo, Mount has pulled influences for this album from all corners. Like the liberation from expectations present throughout the album, he feels like our generation “grew up listening to music without feeling like they had to be part of a clique” — one can enjoy the music for music’s sake. You can hear the heart of the message in the stripped down renditions of songs performed by Metronomy live on KUTX.
