Molly Burch 5.19.16

Austin-based Molly Burch paints pictures of a simpler time, back when sodas were called pops, hairs were in bobs, and people danced at hops. Her band pulses with sentimental grooves inspired from 1950-60s pop, soul, surf & country, while she breathes new life into the genre with a clever crafting of words and a reverberated layering of her 5-piece band. With a sound reminiscent of Dolly Parton, Lana Del Rey and the Beach Boys, it’s understandable that her live performances command attention from her audiences.

Molly and her band stopped by KUTX Studio 1A to perform a few songs and have a visit with John Aielli. We listen in anticipation of her new record which was recorded by Dan Duszynski of Cross Record. Enjoy her performance below and be sure to catch her this Saturday, May 21st, at the Elisabet Ney Museum as part of Ney Day celebration. The free event is from 12-5pm, and is packed with art, music and activities for all ages.
