Boy, is it good to hear from these guys again. Peter Bjorn and John’s latest and eighth full length album received praise from Pitchfork late last year, saying that Dark Ages is “undoubtedly their strongest since Writer’s Block, with a renewed focus on eclecticism and sweet melodies.” There is something on this album for everyone, ranging anywhere from something that could accompany a Western in “Dark Ages” to pop anthems in songs like “Gut Feeling”. Then, right when we weren’t expecting it, they released “EPBJ”, the self-proclaimed “mellow, wintery melancholic ballad-EP of sorts” in February this year. We can attest that is a fair assessment of the project, and it’s quite refreshing to get this to go along with the album. It is the perfect accompaniment to a chill evening of reflection. We had the good fortune to get to host the Swedish band in Studio 1A. Scroll down for the live session and interview!
